Former resident recalls fond times

My name is Doris (Ashworth) Parks. My parents were Dr. and Mrs. Sam Ashworth, Sr.
Me, my brothers and sisters all grew up in the best town in Alabama.
We all attended church at the First Christian Church of Hartselle, which was built of stone hauled from a quarry in Grandpa White's wagon.
My brother, Joe Ashworth, lives in Pensacola, Fla. He has been taking the Hartselle Enquirer for many years. He also took out a subscription and has the paper sent to me.
We are the only two left from our immediate family. However, we still have a few family members and friends in Hartselle.
I have lived in Shreveport, La., for over 33 years, but still enjoy reading about what's happening in my hometown.
Just recently when I opened my paper, there in all its glory was a picture of my favorite stained glass window in the First Christian Church, which I grew up in.
I have always wanted a color picture of that window but did not know whom to contact to make the picture.
My son, a computer tech, scanned the picture in color from your paper and I now have it on my living room wall.
In the same issue, there was a picture of our family Easter reunion, which included all my relatives (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, and cousins).
I want to thank you so much for the pictures of our family reunion and the stained glass window.
My husband was in the military (United States Air Force) for 30 years. We were sent to many bases, both in the states and overseas, but I still remember Hartselle and the people as my hometown.
Please keep up the good work of showing and telling what is going on in Hartselle.
Thanks again for the wonderful moments of Hartselle.

Family asks that money be returned

On Saturday, June 14 my mom was at the Falkville VFW Post 10774 where they were having a family reunion.
She left her purse in a blue car sitting in front of the building. She found later that some money was missing from her purse. We think possibly a youngster looking for cigarettes or something may have taken it.
It would be greatly appreciated, and we aren't trying to get anyone into trouble, if the money was returned.
This was payment money and they have no way of replacing the money to pay these bills.
