Funeral for Lester Wayne Jenkins, 65, of Decatur was Friday, May 11, at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Kenneth Chambers and Alan Watkins officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Jenkins died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Decatur to James Lester Jenkins and Myrtle Martin Jenkins. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962. He was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and was a bus driver for Decatur city schools where the children called him "Mr. Wayne". He was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Stewart Jenkins; two sons, Larry Jenkins of Decatur and Jamie Jenkins of Cullman; one daughter, Michelle Jenkins Edmondson of Falkville; two sisters, Linda Bedingfield of Trinity and Mary Agnes Allen of Hartselle; and three grandchildren, Meagan Edmondson, Drew Jenkins and Deven Jenkins.
Pallbearers were Jerry Allen, Jeff Allen, Tim Beddingfield, Gene Grindstaff, Todd Weatherspoon, Dexter Cagle, Granville Graves and Levi Smith.
