Russell to be honored at Faulkner
Legendary Morgan County High School (Hartselle High) center Charles "Boonie" Russell will be honored at Faulkner University Friday night at a reunion.
The 1962-63, 1972-73, 1982-83 and 1992-93 teams will be honored, as Wimp Sanders will be the honorary speaker.
Russell, who played on the 1972-73 team, already has his jersey number retired at Faulkner, which used to be known as Alabama Christian College.
Russell went on to play for Alabama, where he started in both of his seasons. He averaged 15 points per game as a senior and helped win two SEC Championships.
The ceremony begins at 6 p.m.
