The scope of business activities has expanded dramatically since the time when the following news stories were first published in the Hartselle paper.
1958-February 27, John H. Reynolds (who would later serve as mayor of Hartselle) is the new manager at Elmore's 5 &10.
1949-February 28, Drinkard Funeral Home will soon become Peck's when terms of its purchase by James E. Peck are finalized.
1936-March 1, Emmett Bridges' combination beauty and barber shop is now located in the Tanner building on Main street.
1928-March 2, W. H. Jackson, Moulton Route 3, was doing some trading in Hartselle today. He went home with sorrel and bay mules, each about eight years old.
1952-March 3, J. P. Simpson is very ill at his home here. At one time Mr. Simpson was operator of the Chevrolet motor company and later of the Western Auto Store. He was succeeded in the former business by Bill and Ed Stewart and in the latter by Lee Palmer.
1949-March 3, The Stephenson Hardware and Appliance Company is expected to occupy the building on West Main street which will soon be vacated by Peck Funeral Home.
1952-March 3, Mrs. Bob Gibson recently made a business trip to Columbus, Miss. Folks drive from miles around to get some of Mr. Gibson's barbecue at his Somerville stand.
1919-March 4, Percy Rodgers, who lives out at Talucah, bought a new rubber-tire, covered-top, double-harness buggy in Hartselle today.
1907-March 5, R. S. DeWitt is rebuilding his sawmill which was burned near Somerville a few weeks ago. He will make many improvements in the new mill. The fire did $2,000 in damages, with no insurance. Mr. DeWitt is a traveling man and operates the sawmill as an investment.
1985-March 5, Attorneys Ike Groover, Glenn Thompson, Larry Madison, and Jeffrey Gray have begun a new law firm.
