Adult foster care providers sought
Many individuals know about foster care for children, but few are aware that foster care can also be for adults.
Older Adult Ministries and the Department of Human Resources have joined together to recruit Adult Foster Homes in Alabama.
Adult Foster Care is an excellent resource for individuals who do not qualify for nursing home placement, yet need that extra care to remain a viable part of their communities.
Kendra Newton, community recruiter for Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone and Morgan counties, has been working to inform the public of this need and to recruit individuals who have a desire to become an Adult Foster Care provider.
"We are looking for caring individuals who have a heart for older or disabled adults," Newton said. "It is definitely a calling, and one that can make an incredible difference in an individual's quality of life."
Anyone interested in learning more about the Adult Foster Care Program, contact Kendra Newton at 256-332-8969 or at kendranewton@charter.net
Newton is also available to speak to civic and church groups about the program.
