Funeral for Mildred Helmick Channell, 93, of Hartselle was Wednesday, September 25, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. WG Henry and Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Channell died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. A native of St. Clair County, she was the widow of Dewey Garfield Channell.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle and a member of Eastern Star. She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Hartselle. She supported the Hartselle Parent-Teacher Association and other school functions. She was 82 when she retired as a certified medical secretary/assistant for Doctors Erskine and Sydney Chenault of Decatur for 34 years.
She is survived by one son, Dewey Bowes Channell of Decatur; one daughter, Martha Channell Francis of Decatur; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
Pallbearers were Mike Francis, Dee Francis, Rob Channell, Tom Channell, Cindy Channell Butcher and Brad Butcher.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle or your favorite charity.
