Funeral for Andrew Cooper Clayton Jr., 70, of Hartselle was Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Clayton died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. A native of Tennessee, he was a retired engineer and a graduate of Christian Brothers College in Memphis and a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle. He was employed at Redstone Arsenal for 30 years and received many awards for excellence, including several letters of commendation from Dr. Wernher von Braun. He attended eight years of Bible study at Samford University and was a Sunday school teacher for more than 35 years. He was a brother of the late Eugene Clayton and Louise Olita.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Clayton of Hartselle; two sons, Garth Clayton of Ontario, Calif. and Mark Clayton of Hartselle; one daughter, Jennifer Clayton of Waco, Texas; two sisters, JoAnne Simpson and Lydia Mae White, both of Memphis, Tenn.
Pallbearers were Lavon Simpson, Patrick White, Frank Olita, Hank White, Steve Olita, Charlie Gooch, Bill Curnutt and Dewel Lott.
