Hartselle graduate John Michael Watson has been tapped to join former teammate Chris Crumpton on the North squad of the July 19 North-South All-Star football game at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
Watson played tight end on Hartselle's 2001 football team that finished with an 8-3 record with a first-round post-season appearance against Gardendale.
Watson has signed to play football for Alabama State University in Montgomery and is looking forward to the summer scrimmage as a tune up to hitting the Hornets' practice field hard in preparation for the upcoming gridiron season.
"They told me a long time ago that I would probably get to play," Watson said. "I got a call last week asking if I was ready to play.
Watson said he has been working out according to the Alabama State conditioning book. He is the son of Johnny and Debbie Watson. He plans to pursue a degree in special education at Alabama State.
